It is a legal requirement the HFEA-licensed clinics in the UK must use an electronic method of licensed treatment defined data submission. This method has been Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system in the past to provide defined licensed treatment data.

PRISM (Patient Register Information System) & IDEAS

Previous updates;

UPDATE 14 September 2021;

The new HFEA PRISM service for data submission was switched on on14 September 2021. This means that clinics using stand-alone data submission processes can now submit their licensed treatment data using PRISM.

IMPORTANT - Clinics who will be using the IDEAS PRISM Portal to submit their data will not be able to submit any data until Portal installation has been completed by Mellowood Medical. Data can no longer be submitted using the EDI service, and you should not access the EDI section in IDEAS.

We will email you 2-3 weeks before your clinic is scheduled to have the IDEAS PRISM Portal installed, to make arrangements for access to your IT systems. Please see the latest mail shot from Mellowood, sent on 31 August 2021. The active participation of your clinic IT department is most appreciated!

UPDATE 30 August 2021;

The HFEA have confirmed that the EDI system for submitting licensed treatment data to them has been switched off. Data can no longer be submitted using this method, and you should not access the EDI section in IDEAS.

The new PRISM service for data submission will be turned on between 13 & 20 September (this will be confirmed by HFEA). Clinics who will be using the IDEAS PRISM Portal to submit their data will not be able to submit any data until Portal installation has been completed by Mellowood Medical.

UPDATE 4 August 2021;

The HFEA have announced that the PRISM data submission system launch process has been restarted. The current EDI system is scheduled to be switched off on 27 August 2021 and you will no longer be able to submit data to the HFEA using the old EDI system after that date.

UPDATE 28 March 2021;

PRISM rollout has been delayed . No EDI services have been switched off and you should continue to submit licensed treatment data in the way you usually do.

UPDATE 15 March 2021;

The HFEA have announced that the PRISM data submission system launch process has been restarted. The current EDI system is scheduled to be switched of on 28 May 2021 and you will no longer be able to submit data to the HFEA in that way.

UPDATE 15 January 2021:

The EDI switch off has been delayed until late spring. Mellowood Medical have not switched off any HFEA services and you should continue to submit data and correct errors through IDEAS as you have been up until now.

The HFEA have announced that the current EDI system will be switched off on 13 January 2021, and you will no longer be able to submit data to the HFEA in that way.
