Patient Portal 2.0 Feature Highlights
Welcome to the IDEAS Web Patient Portal Version 2 by Mellowood Medical. Significant changes to the underlying code base of the Portal application have been undertaken as part of Mellowood Medical's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. This new code set builds upon industry best practices to ensure clinics are positioned to offer the latest in available security protocols, integration standards, and scalability to their patients.
Mellowood is also proud to announce the ability to accept Online Payments through the Portal. With direct publishing of Invoices from IDEAS!
This version of the Portal is optimized to work with IDEAS 6.0.17+ or above

Messages | Patients can view, send and receive messages. · Practitioner sends messages to patients in a HIPAA and GDPR compliant method · Practitioner sends a message via IDEAS (from Patient Messages folder). These can be either blank or templated messages. Practitioner can personalize the template for one-time use. · IDEAS triggers an e-mail and/or SMS message (an option selected by the patient) to notify the patient that a message is available. · IDEAS saves the portal message in Patient Messages folder · Patient can see the incoming messages in the Recent Messages section on the patient portal. · When the patient has read the portal email message, it is flagged with “Read Receipt” indicator with date and time. SMS messages are not flagged. · IDEAS marks the message as “Read” when opened by the Patient. | |
Portal Team Messaging | The ability now exists to allow patients to send and receive messages from clinic 'Teams'. These teams are setup as user groups within IDEAS, whereby clinic users can be a member of multiple cross-functional groups/teams. This approach helps ensure that all members of the patient-support team can access relevant messages or cover for an absent team member on days off. | |
Forms | Patients can view and fill out Patient Forms. The ability to expose forms to the portal is a configuration item. Allowable forms are presented in a list view. · Patient selects a form from the list and chooses to fill it out. · Patient can save a form as a work in progress. The form is visible in IDEAS 6.0 once it is saved. · Saved forms are presented in IDEAS as “Patient, Draft” in the Staff Member column. · Patient selects “Submit” once the form has been completed. The status of the form changes to “Submitted”. The form is now marked as “Read Only”. · Within IDEAS the practitioner may require further information or corrections. They can mark the form as “Return to Patient”. This changes the status from “Submitted” to “Saved”. “Return to Patient” button is only available if the form has not been signed off in IDEAS . · Show progress bar for number of questions answered · When a form is “Submitted” an automated order is generated within IDEAS. | |
Documents | Patients can view documents that have been marked as “Publish to Portal” in IDEAS. Practitioner can remove the document from the patient portal by choosing “Remove from Portal” · Patient can download the document from the patient portal · IDEAS 6.0 tracks when the document is downloaded in the log. | |
Lab Results | Patients can view their lab results once the practitioner has them signed-off in IDEAS. · Practitioner signs off the lab results in IDEAS · Depending on the configuration, the lab results are now available for the patient to view on the patient portal · E-mail\SMS Message is sent to the patient for notification of availability of test results. · Patients can view the Lab Results in the Lab Results section of the patient portal · If the practitioner revokes sign-off within IDEAS, the patient will no longer be able to view the Lab Results. | |
Payment | Patients can make online payments using a credit card. Clinics can configure this option for availability. · Patient chooses the online payment option. The outstanding amount is displayed · Patient enters the credit card data as requested by credit card gateway. · Patient enters the payment amount. The amount can be either full or partial payment. | |
Calendar | Appointments and confirmed treatment drug doses are displayed for the patient in the Calendar. · Patient can view all appointments and confirmed drug doses as part of the treatment plan. Unconfirmed drug doses are not displayed · Patient can view appointment details by selecting the particular appointment. Details such as procedure type and details are viewed. The level of detail presented is configurable in IDEAS. · SMS/E-mail is sent to the patient for appointment reminders as configured in IDEAS. · Patient can view the details of a confirmed drug dose by selecting the particular item. Drug doses are determined within IDEAS as part of the treatment plan. · Clinic can control the visibility of drugs by configuring the individual drug. · SMS/E-mail is sent to the patient for drug treatment reminders as configured in IDEAS . | |

Home Page Image | Clinics can add an anchor image that patients first see when they view the Patient Portal website from their PC. Image details (red box below): 740x750pixels (preferred format .PNG, 96ppi) | |
Logo Image | Clinics can add a logo of any shape to the top left side of the website. This image greats users as they ‘land’ at the website. And is used as the anchor ‘Homepage’ button when navigating through your portal .. Image details (red box): 195x75px (preferred format is .PNG, 96ppi) | |
Colour Scheme | Clinics can add colour to the menu, headers, and footers that would complements the main clinic website. RGB values to use for menu bars | |
Languages | Multiple languages can now be chosen in the Portal – Languages can also be edited by the clinic or by Mellowood staff | |

Patients Login | Clinic (admin) have the ability to set a random password or create a password for each patient. | |
