How to - Configuration to display Progress Note links on patient Homepage
Particular progress note template categories can be configured to appear under the various headings on the patient homepage;
Medical History
MD notes
Pre-treatment
Flagged progress note items
The presence on the homepage of hyperlinks to particular completed Progress Notes is governed by the category they are allocated to, configured in their template - File>System Configuration>Progress Note Templates
Progress Note templates should all be allocated a category, and specific categories can be given a code, so that any progress notes created using that template will display in a specific area on the patient homepage.
Progress Note Categories & Codes
The below example shows specifically how to configure to allow any progress notes created in the patient record with templates allocated the category ‘Nursing’ to display on the patient homepage under the subheading ‘Medical History’
In this example, this progress note template called ‘Clinical note’ is in the ‘nursing’ category.
Applying a code to a Progress Note Template Category
To give the Nursing category a UDF code, right click on the field and select ’Edit List'
Add the code relating to the section on the homepage that you want those completed progress notes with Category ‘Nursing’ to appear in
Homepage section | UDF Code 2 to be used in Progress Note Category List |
---|---|
Medical History | MEDHIST |
MD Notes | MDNOTES |
Pre treatment | WORKUP |
How this displays in the patient record;
Any progress notes created from templates with the category ‘Nursing’ will now appear as a hyperlink under the Medical History subheading on the patient homepage.
FAQ - I have lots of different templates in the category ‘Nursing’, but I only want e.g. the ‘Pre-treatment related Nursing progress notes to appear on the Homepage
You can create as many categories as you like - it’s an editable list. We’d recommend creating another category called e.g. Pre-treatment nursing, and give THAT category the UDF code. Then only some nursing Progress notes will appear on the homepage, not all.
Flagged Progress Notes
Any questions in Progress Note templates can be flagged and the question and answer will be visible as a hyperlink on the patient homepage.
When you are in the question line in the template, there will be an unfilled flag visible in the remarks column.
Clicking the flag will fill it, and when the PN is saved and closed, the question and answer will be available on the homepage
It is recommended that your clinic has a policy relating to what specific answers or answer types should be flagged, to ensure consistency across the clinic
