IDS5217 Cryo - Tank & Straw Properties

With the Properties function you can see properties of the selected item(s).

Tank properties

Select a tank by clicking on it and go to Item/Properties, or right click and select 'Properties or the right mouse button/Properties.

Description

This field contains the name of the tank as it is displayed on the form.

You may change the container's name by revising this entry, effectively performing a 'Rename'. Whenever you rename a container, however, you should be cautious in your choice of the new name because a duplicate name, while permitted, can make future work difficult and/or dramatically increase the chance for error.

Be careful about renaming any container if clinic procedures include the recording of the old container name on paper forms

Unit Code ID

This code is limited to maximum 2 characters.

The intended purpose of this field is to give you a short-hand capability in addressing a specific container

.The graphic shows a container hierarchy with the Unit code IDs (AA) that have been specified for them shown in red lettering.

To fill in the container address in a quick way do it as seen on the left.

Note that in the options box the “separator to use container codes” has to be filled in.

If you use this option, please do not specify the backslash ("\") character here.

It should be evident that if there is a container that does not have a code specified for it, then neither that container nor any subordinate containers may be addressed in the way shown above.

Max. units at this level

The intent of this field is to display the specification entered when the tank was originally created using the Tank layout wizard. It is used, so far, only in a single option of the Cryogenic storage form's Search dialog, when you want to obtain a list showing space available (for additional storage). Should you add a container to this level (which actually ends up as a subordinate) then it is helpful to add 1 to this field. Similarly, if you delete a container under it then this field should be decremented by 1.

 Color

The color specified in the entry field will be the color of the "folder" icon for this storage container in the display. When this is for a lowest-level storage container that is part of a 2-color unit then this reflects the color of the top part of the unit.

The entry field here is actually a gateway to the color selection dialog.

To specify a color or change the specified color simply click in the entry field, select a color in the resulting color selection dialog then click on the dialog's OK button.

Color 2

Some clinics, at the lowest storage level (the level housing actual patient samples), use a 2-colored storage device where the top part is color and the bottom is another color2.

Tank Locked

This is used when the tank is in quarantine.

Retired tank or container

Tanks which are now empty and are removed from use can be retired. Left click the check box to retire the tank. (The tank must be empty). Note The tank has records attached to it and will stay in the history and audit trail record, but will be removed from the tank display in the left most window.

Remarks

You may enter a remark in this field and whatever you type here, up to 127 characters in length, will appear as a "tool tip" whenever the mouse pointer is hovered over the container's name on the right display frame (pane) of the form. Remarks entered here are neither accumulated nor date-stamped. Anything entered here fully replaces whatever was in the field before.
