Tx Cycle M/ment - Entering Blood Test Results
Blood tests can be ordered and results viewed in the Blood/Lab tests folder.
They can be associated with a treatment cycle or e.g. initial screening bloods, be stand alone
Ordering/creating blood tests
Blood tests can be ordered from the patient record in a few different ways;
manually creating them
inserting planned blood tests from the treatment plan template added to the cycle on the intended treatment tab.
from the planned test you may order the test to send to an external company or your in-house blood analyser. This is known as ‘send to lab’. This must be done before the results can be entered - either by direct entry or automatically from your analyser or external company interface.
Inserting a group of blood tests
Sometimes a group of tests are often added together to a patient file. In this case a blood test template can be added to your system configuration so that this group of tests can be added to the patient file. Mellowood Medical Support can assist in this template configuration
This feature is especially useful when entering infectious disease testing.
To insert a blood test template,
press the Investigation button and select "Insert Plan".
Select the desired template and the date.
Date refers to the testing date. Press 'Save' or 'Save + Set sample ID' if you wish to assign a sample ID to the tests.
The tests associated with the template will be entered into the patient file.
Receiving blood test results
Blood test results can be received into the patient record in a few different ways;
you order the blood tests using an external system and when you receive the results you manually transcribe them into the blood lab test folder and link them to an associated treatment cycle (or appropriate). For information on how to do this click here Ordering individual blood tests and blood panels IN a treatment cycle
you have an in-house blood analyser, you order the bloods using IDEAS, print labels, and then results feed back into the folder automatically
You have an interface with an external testing company - you order the bloods using IDEAS, print labels and a requisition form, and the results automatically come back into the patient record from the company
