PN - Physical Characteristics tab

Here you can record the physical characteristics of the patient. You can complete as little or as much of this section as you wish - Height and weight may be all you want to record for a patient.

Donor Records

However, if the record is that of a donor, and you wish to make use of the donor matching facility in IDEAS, you should ensure that this section is completed as fully as possible.

In donor records (if in full file format, rather than external donor type), you should ensure that the type of donor is indicated in the "Properties" section of the Additional information page of the "Demographic details" folder.

Further information on the donor matching process follow this link PN - Donor Characteristics tab

If you import donors from an external bank, and you receive an electronic delivery note which contains the characteristics of the donor, you may be able to use an interface and this section would complete automatically - please ask your IDEAS contact for more information.

The BMI value (body mass index) is automatically calculated by IDEAS once the height/weight values have been entered. if you ask height and weight questions in a Progress Note, you can have the answers autofill here - please ask support@mellowoodmedical.com if you would like to do this

  • Measures in the upper area fields may be entered in metric or imperial units -whichever one you use, the alternate will be calculated automatically once you move out of the field.

  • The central grid part shows some of the characteristics, under the Category column, that may be selected for description in the columns to the right.

  • The ‘patient’ column is used to describe the patient's characteristics and those further to the right of the parents and grandparents of the patient.

The category list is fixed within IDEAS and cannot be revised but the options available for each category are user-specifiable in File>System Configuration>List >Demographic details or by right clicking in the field.
